Coming together in the fall of 2008, Henrietta Lacks have been slowly crafting their own unique brand of electropop. Combining live drums and bass with vintage synthesizers, HL's sound can best be described as a vicious dogfight between Death From Above 1979, Joy Division and Boards of Canada, with the only victor being the listener. After taking part in this summer's First Annual Toronto Synthfest (organized by the band's own, Andrew Pulsifer), in which they shared the stage with the likes of the Silly Kissers and Opopo, Henrietta Lacks have started to receive some noticeable attention that they hope to build upon in the upcoming year.
